In Grasshoppers reply he said it was more to do with labour costs and politics.
Has anyone asked for help ? ie Labour, Euipment etc.
Until all racers are made aware of what is going on how can we be expected to help. Maybe someone should attempt to arrange a meeting to discuss all the relevant options with everyone concerned.
This is just my opinion.

Like everything else, it would be great to have the best of both worlds - currently I feel we are being 'tolerated' by Arena UK, and we are very grateful for that fact - yes we have an acre of land on the other side of the A1 that has planning permission for a track to be built, a container and some scaffolding poles. for us to proceed with the outdoor track we have to draw up a lease on behalf of the landlord, this alone is around £1000, that's before any work can commence on track building.
By having a leased piece of land we will then have a weekly rent and other maintainence costs - this will run through the spring and summer months whilst there is sufficient natural light - come winter we either have to light the place - or change to Sunday mornings - this we did at the Rutland Arms - but attendance was low - but as a rule, it never rained (not whilst I was there anyway). If we were to abandon Arena UK for the summer, they will probably find someone else to fill our Tuesday booking and we will be up the proverbial creek....If Arena had an area we could negoiate the summer use of, then go back indoors come winter, that would be great -
If it's track building on our own land - then let's have some serious suggestions for fundraising..... |

| problem is with trying to get funding from council/lottery etc etc is it takes a lot of time and effort and nearly will become a full time job for the lucky volunteer who takes the task on. |

hi i dont know about funds but i can help with building , i have been involved in bmxand motocross track building and i did some of the work on blyth . buildinf the track is the cheap bit all we need is plenty off people to do it, most of us will have a spade or other stuff that would be needed . the hard bit is cash for things like rostrum track marking and as some one els has said a lease rent etc . however has any one thought of what jobs membersdo maybe some one could help with that sort of thing . |

Thanks tcpug, perfect link to the next thing......if we had a register of 'volunteers' with a list of their particular skills you know the sort of thing, arson, theft, weapons.
Reg, we know about your one arm, we didn't realise you were a black lesbo.........
No but seriously, and more importantly do we go with the rented land or approach Arena and assure the winter racing? |

| How secure is the Arena UK? Could they just turn round and say that we can't use it anymore,or do we have a bit more of a foot in the door? |

One of the problems is people come and people go...
I'm back racing at the moment but come the summer I might be doing other things...
I am happy to help with labour....I'm also a sparky, so I could sort some electrics..
I have bigger commitments at other things...but am happy to help where I can.
As for where/do we need/outdoor/indoor.....I wouldn't like to say because in a few months I could not be racing.
Sorry...
But if you want me somewhere next weekend with a spade I will be there..... |

| most have been around for along time,so they get there money through membership and race fees, they just invest all the money they have made through the year on the track,it might take 5 or 6 years to get enough money to make a good track |
