Just thought I'd add this to clear up a few repeated questions that have cropped up with people who've visited on race night after seeing this site.
Q. Do I need the latest, most expensive buggy/truggy with the ho-digidee, gung-ho engine and the most blinged up parts that money can buy? A. NO - the most you will need is a complete, reliable buggy/truggy with brakes that work.
Q. Do I have to spend a fortune to race ? A. NO, but you can if you want to - RTR buggies are available new from under £200 - all you'll need then is fuel and a starter pack, and then the price goes up from there. You'll have to be prepared for a few breakages - and the costs to replace parts. Race fees currently are £5 per night - annual membership will happen in the future.
Q. Do I have to be a really good driver before I can race? A. NO - I've been racing for years and I've managed....don't win much but I'm consistent, I turn upo every week!
Basically, if you can make your vehicle go forwards, brake, left and right you can race - we only recommend that you take it steady and let the faster boys through for the first couple of weeks until you really get the hang of it.
Q. What happens is I get a problem during race night? A. Someone will always lend a hand - lend tools and spare parts if they have them - we're only competitors ON the track, off it we're just a bunch of big kids that like radio controlled cars!
Q. how do you know who's won? A. We have an electronic timing system, a Transponder is fitted to each vehicle (loan for race night is included in your race fee) and everytime you pass over a loop the computer clocks youur time and lap count.
That starts it off - any other questions, post it here and someone WILL answer it.
If you have any interest in racing - come down and have a go...

Sparks,
If you're the tall fella with the Hyper 7, don't worry about the starter box issue - I'll make sure my battery pack's charged and you can join the queue of those using mine....wonder if I could fit a coin box...?
Should have mentioned crystals above..damn it! |

Bring it on!
Just make sure your radio's are charged, you've got fuel, wheel nuts tight - and gaffa tape for your body shell! |

I actually have a brand new, un-used, pre-painted but as yet unstickered hyper 7 bodyshell available if it's that bad. It came with my recent purchase of a H7 rtr - open to reasonable offers.
same colour as this one

interested, i thought about making a carbonfibre one !! that would look pretty trick, and be super strong! the mudguards you invented are as we speak being moulded for carbon too!! could be interested in the shell bring it tuesday if you can.

As regards the mudguards - carbon fibre would work well as long as it flexes, that's why most of us are using pop bottles or rubber inner tube. As the geometery of the suspension changes the profile of the guards must also change so as not to restrict movement.
Body shells made of carbon fibre would also have limitations - mostly cost (unless your materials are free) and weight. I think you might be hard pressed to get a c.f. shell down to the weight and strength of the polycarbonate they currently use - and then wouldn't be c.f. be quite brittle - then you have a collision and you'll have shards of c.f. sticking out likke so many razor blades?
If you do happen to make a successful shell - remember that there are quite a few H7 racers at A1 Racing..... |

Yeah i know what your saying about the flex, i am going to try a couple of different carbons, one with a gelcoat i agree i dont think will work but a prepreg one might. give it a try and see how it works! if it does work they will look proper!! the shell in cf wouldnt be as light as standard one and your right when it breaks its nasty. so prob give that a miss!! got my failsafe and battery pack today so get them fitted over the weekend!
